Okay, so get this...

We have had a time w/ electronics this week. A few days ago - I'm thinking lightening (or a power surge/outage) caused our entertainment system - dvd player, stereo.... - to not work. It shows the Standby power light but won't come on. I've been having trouble w/ my computer. Taking forever. Must be bogged down w/ junk!!! But today just takes the cake and the reason for this post. This early afternoon when Nolan and I left the house our TV was working (oh which reminds me - the one in the master bedroom has not been turned on since Robert disconnected the satellite box and told me all I had to do was just plug it back in - which didn't work - but I really don't mind - hopefully it won't be turned back on - yeah, right!) Anyway, back to my story. When we returned home this evening the main TV wouldn't come on. The satellite was on and the TV was on but no picture! And I'm thinking DARN but am secretly happy 'cause that means we'd have a quiet evening! Nolan was constantly telling me to ck the (what sounded like reflections) but what he was actually telling me was to check the reset button (like we did last time). But I was confident that it a problem w/ the TV. I was just going to let it go and enjoy my quiet evening but as I was coming home from dropping Nolan off at AWANA class I started thinking that Robert probably wouldn't think that having no TV is so great when he gets home tomorrow night and wouldn't be too pleased that I didn't "handle" it. So, I call Sony (after hours support- which he tells me that he is in the Philippines - and as he is telling me to check if the TV is on. DUH!! And to check if they are still hooked up! DUH, again. NO ONE was home when we left, how can they just unhook themselves!?! Had a party - when the cats gone the mice will play!! And that was actually why I didn't call DirecTV - 'cause that's always the first thing they tell me to do - check the cables. As we were talking and as I was getting more frustrated and wondering how much this call to the Philippines will cost me - I remembered a little voice saying "Mommy just reset it" So what do I do - a little too late? You got it! Reset the dish and low-and-behold it reset and now is currently on!! That little guy knew exactly what he was talking about!! Next time I'll just listen to my 4 year old instead of the mommy's intuition!! Lesson learned - always take the male point-of-view when it comes to electronics - especially TVs!!
