Just As

....I re-commit to blogging - Life happens!! Nothing major just:

Nolan loving school,
Mom (yep, that's me) gets sick,
and our Internet modem dies.

Hopefully, come Monday ~ Nolan still loves school, mom feels better and the new modem comes in the mail! Until then, I hope ya'll have a great weekend and hopefully there will be a new post on the other side of the weekend!

Doggie sweaters!! REALLY?!?!

Used to when I would see a dog w/ clothes on that's what I think!! ReALlY?!?! Then along comes Harley!! We took her to the deer lease w/ us last weekend. The weather was pretty warm for deer leasing. Our next family trip to the deer lease - dad's going this weekend - will be Thanksgiving weekend and I started to get concerned about the weather and Harley. So, when Nolan spotted the Snuggie for dogs - he thought it was the coolest, cutest thing so of course we had to get one for Harley. (Better her than me!!) Surprisingly, she didn't mind it too much - we'll see how that goes next weekend!! Too bad Snuggies for dogs don't come in camo!!

A Typical Conversation

....in the Eckeberger household:

Nolan: Mom, I want a Glow Fish (said while hugging and suga-ring)

Mom: Oh really??!? What's a Glow Fish? (said while hugging and suga-ring back)

Nolan: A fish that glows, mom!!!

Oh son, thanks for clarifying that for me!!

Tis the "I Want...." season!!

Rainy Day(s) Weekend

(Playing cards (and eating chocolate) w/ mom in the motor home)

Robert and I (along w/ a few other couples) had been planning a motorcycle road trip to Jefferson for this past Saturday. The annual Boo Benefit was going on. "Boo Benefit is an annual rally that aids Camp I'm Still Me (formally Louisiana Burn Camp) in providing opportunities for children who are burn survivors. More information about the this camp can be seen at (http://campimstillme.com/)." I was really excited especially seeing that (1) we haven't been on a ride in a long time and (2) we actually found someone to "keep" Nolan w/o having to pay all day!! But, as the week went on the weather wasn't looking to promising for a good ride day so by Wednesday evening we changed our plans and decided to head to Ft. Worth for a trap shoot. Now, that brings to mind a question that I should've thought about then instead of as I'm writing this - If it wasn't a good weekend to ride - why would we think it would be a good weekend to shoot!?!? Hind sight....... We headed out Friday morning in the pouring rain. Made it safely to Ft. Worth and hung out in the RV and went to the Olive Garden for lunch. Saturday morning brought us more dismal weather but we tried to make the most of the day! Nolan and I hung out between the club house and the motor home playing cards and watching TV. And dad succeeded in winning Championship in Doubles in the AA Class!!! GREAT JOB ROBERT!!!!! We're so proud of you!! Saturday night we headed out to Razzoo's for some great food!! Sunday, unfortunately was another dreary day and the shooters had a tough time seeing the targets. Unfortunately, because of this, we headed out quite early for home!! Which was really okay by me 'cause it gave us a chance to unload the motor home and me a chance to get the laundry done!! All in all, it was a good weekend spent w/ family and good friends!!

Earth Day

Yesterday Nolan and I visited Camp Tyler for the very first time! Not being from here - I had no idea there was such a place!! We found it very cool!! They had an Earth Day celebration w/ many, many neat things to do!! Pony rides, fishing, all kinds of farm animals, insect collecting, hay ride, live music.... I was really surprised that he really enjoyed the snakes!! It was a beautiful day to celebrate our precious gift from God!!

Nolan and Colton

Nolan's cousin, Colton, came for a short visit Friday. They had such a blast together - when Colton finally found his comfort zone! He's such a sweet boy! I wish we could spend more time w/ him!! I just hate that all of his other cousins live so far away!! I find it amusing to listen to Nolan interacting w/ other children. I get to see a different side of him. His father and I are convinced that he is a leader and not a follower! Bet you can't guess where he gets that from!!

First T-Ball Practice

Nolan had his first t-ball practice this past Tuesday! Of course he did wonderful!! ;) He seems to really enjoy it! Tuesday he practiced the throwing technique of making sure the arm was in an L shape and up by his ear and then throwing down on one knee. The coach also gave us some "high dollar" equipment to practice w/. He cut out the bottom of a milk jug and taped the edges. He also gave us a squishy ball w/ the intention of the players to toss the ball up and catch it w/ the jug. We are still working on the concept of tossing the ball up - Nolan likes to hold it over his head and just drop it into the jug. Thursday we tried a drill for the players to learn to throw the ball to first base when it is hit to them. They also got a chance at batting. We had to take a leave of absence from Tae Kwon Do for about 8-10 weeks because of the t-ball practice being on the same evenings.

Bridal Wreath

I have always loved Bridal Wreaths and finally have one of my own. I planted it last year so this is the first time that I've had it bloom so well! I'm so glad it made it (so far) through the cold! I know - I've planted it too close to the fence, but I'm scared to move it now!
