He is so precious!!! Tiny, but precious!! Seems to be a pretty good baby! He slept much of the time he was there (I'm sure that that statement was a "DUH" statement seeing that he was only a week old) so mom and I were concerned that they'd have a tough night ahead of them. Mom talked to Jennifer Saturday morning and said he slept well!! Good job, little guy!! Now Harley - on the other hand - wasn't too keen about the babe!!! She was so very jealous - it was pretty comical!! She kept trying to jump on my lap while I was holding Dylan. I wouldn't let her so she'd just run circles around the recliner that we were sitting in. She finally perched herself on the armrest beside be but apparently that wasn't good enough. She decided to sit by my mother and sulk:
Saturday morning we just hung out w/ mom and dad and ran some errands. Laura and Dallas stopped by on their way to Austin. It was so good to see them!! A the day went on - the house seemed to be getting warmer. By the time we decided to put the A/C on ~ it wasn't working!! It was a long, hot, humid night!! We woke up Sunday morning w/ a surprise from the Easter Bunny for Nolan:
We went to church and then headed out to my Grandmother' house for our usual family/food gathering. Even thought there was a slim crowd this year ~ a good time was had by all. As I was helping get lunch ready - Nolan was ready to change his clothes. He was getting pretty hot ~ oh yeah, 'cause the A/C was not working there either!! We were just thankful that it wasn't 90+ degrees that day - it was just very humid!! I recruited my mother to take some pics of Nolan before he changed so that I could finish getting my dishes together. I'm not sure why he's so "bowed up" in this pic:
There used to be pastures FULL of Bluebonnets but not any more. Guess this is the only flowers they could find:
We enjoyed a lunch of BBQ ribs, chicken and many, many trimmings!! One of my contributions was Zucchini & Mushroom Saute. It's very simple to make and yet very tasty:
Ingredients
2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 small zucchini, julienned
1 1/2 cups sliced mushrooms
2 teaspoons chopped fresh basil
Salt & freshly ground pepper, to taste
Preparation
1.Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over high heat. Add zucchini and cook, stirring, for 2 minutes. Add mushrooms and basil and cook, stirring, until softened, about 1 minute. Season with salt and pepper.
Then it was time for the Easter Egg hunt:
I'm not sure what I was thinking when taking a picture of 2 of my favorite people in front of window - other than we were in a rush to leave and it would've taken too long to get Granny up, moved and situated somewhere else!!
Speaking of taking pictures. I think I'm going to have to buy a new camera!?! (Maybe for Mother's Day!?!?) It takes pictures fine - but I can't see thru the display screen. Apparently I got some Coconut Oil - don't ask - inside the screen and I'm not sure how to get it out other than taking the camera apart! I was hoping that it would dry....but hasn't as of yet!!
